Selecting an orthotist or prosthetist who is certified by the American Board for Certification (ABC) assures that your care will be performed by a practitioner who meets the national certifying/accrediting body's standards of ethics, education, skills and technical knowledge. Board-certified orthotists / prosthetists must complete a baccalaureate degree, post-graduate education and a year of residency experience under a certified practitioner. ABC certification must be renewed every three years and only practitioners who update their skills and education through continuing-education courses are eligible.
Equally important is selecting a facility which is accredited by the ABC. In order to become accredited, an orthotic and prosthetic facility must meet the ABC established national standards. Accreditation is reviewed every five years by a panel of experts in the field.
Sunny Hills Prosthetic Services, Inc., in Fullerton, is an “ABC Accredited Facility” with ABC Certified, board eligible and practitioners who are skilled and are sensitive to each individual's unique needs.
